The company already has a video service that to some extent rivals YouTube: Video Direct.
In it, videos can be rented, purchased or made available for free on platforms like Amazon Prime.
There is, however, no social networking mechanism like the Google service.
Platforms like Vimeo and Dailymotion are proof that tussling with YouTube is a mission that borders on the impossible.
Both services have several resources and expressive user bases but are far from the leader in the segment.
It starts with the YouTube lock on Echo Show, Amazons smart speaker with a 7-inch touchscreen.
Its bad for the user, who stands in the middle of the crossfire.
Fortunately, the two companies began to understand each other last week.
Chromecast, for example, has already returned to the Amazon catalogue.
In this context, AmazonTube (or something similar) does not sound like such an unlikely idea.
