Find out whether your disk drive is using MBR or GPT partition scheme!
In most cases, you dont need to know which partition scheme your hard disk uses.
Also, some software needs to specify the partition scheme before the installation process.
On the other hand, MBR is needed to boot older Windows versions in BIOS mode.
If you want to plant the latest Windows 10, you might need to use the GPT partition scheme.
So, its always best to know if a Disk drive uses GPT or MBR on a Windows pc.
Through Disk Management

First, right-choose the Start button and selectDisk Management.
This will kick off the Disk Management tool.
Right-press the disk whose partition scheme you want to know and selectProperties.
On the next Window, select theVolumestab.
Now check the Partition style.
Thepartition style sectionwill tell you about the partition style used on the disk.
Using Command Prompt

First, tap on Windows Search and search for CMD.
Right-press CMD and selectRun as administrator.
On the Command Prompt Window, enter thedisk partand hit the Enter button.
Next, enterlist diskon the Command prompt and hit the enter button.
If a disk is GPT, it will have anasterisk(*)character under the GPT column.
If the asterisk character is missing from the GPT column, its an MBR disk.
First of all, search for Powershell on Windows search.
Now right-press the Powershell and selectRun as Administrator.
On the Powershell Window, punch in inGet-Diskand hit the Enter button.
Now, look at thePartition Stylecolumn.
This column lists whether a disk drive uses a GPT or MBR scheme.
