First, bring up the WhatsApp app on your Android gadget and tap on thethree dotsin the top-right corner.
On the list of options, tap on theSettings.

On the controls page, tap theStorage and Dataoption.
Now, on the Storage and Data screen, find the Media auto-download section.
You will find three options When using mobile data, when connected on WiFi and When Roaming.

Similarly, to prevent media downloads when connected to WiFi, select No media on When connected on WiFi.
Open theWhatsAppapp on your Android phone.
When the app opens, initiate the group you would like to stop auto-download for.

Once done,tap on the group nameat the top.
On the info screen, tap onMedia Visibility.
On the prompt that appears, selectNo.
