BothWindows 10andWindows 11operating system ships with a new security app called Windows Security.
Although Ransomware protection is a useful feature, it comes disabled on all Microsoft Devices.
That means you gotta fire up the feature on your Windows Security app manually.

First of all, hit the Windows Start button and selectSettings.
On the parameters app, punch thePrivacy & Securityoption on the left pane.
- press theWindows Securitysection on the right pane, as shown below.

On the next screen, press theOpen Windows Securitybutton, as shown in the screenshot below.
This will bring up the Windows Security app on your machine.
On the left pane, choose theVirus & threat protection.

On the right, scroll down and press theManage ransomware protectionlink.
On the next screen, enable theControl Folder Accessoption.
Simply toggle the switch to enable it.

Now Windows Security will prevent unauthorized app access to a few important folders on your PC.
Sometimes, the feature might block apps from making changes even when they are safe to use.
In that case, you should probably allow apps through controlled folder access.
