By default, your iPhone shoots videos in HEVC format and captures the images in HEIF format.
Actually, HEIF and HEVC formats were not compatible with Windows or any other desktop operating system.
You need a dedicated image viewer and a video player to read those images and videos.

Open your iPhonesSettingsand tap on theCamera.
On the Camera page, scroll down and tap on theFormats.
On the Formats, you will find two options High EfficiencyandMost Compatible.

If you want your iPhone to save Photos and Videos in JPG and MP4 respectively, select theMost Compatibleoption.
After selecting the Most Compatible, your iPhone will record videos and save them in MP4 format.
Similarly, your images will be saved in JPG or JPEG format.
